Merlin Farm Cottages Mawgan Porth 2024

It is holiday time again and Archie our Clumberdoodle was getting very excited as he sensed we were going somewhere as I started to lay holiday stuff out in our spare bedroom.

And yes we are going back to Archie’s favourite place – Mawgan Porth in Cornwall. However as you will have seen from my previous blog posts we have been to Mawgan Porth for a number of years and have always stayed at The Park. However this year we are trying somewhere new and have booked a week at Merlin Farm Cottages which are eco friendly powered by solar, under floor heating and where they offer free electric car charging, which is a big plus factor when choosing a holiday as Steve drives an electric car. I have been a bit lackadaisical (that’s a good word!!) in updating Archie’s blog, so as he celebrated his 7th Birthday on the 2nd April 2024, I thought it was about time I put that right.

Now Archie knows the song “Happy Birthday” and gets very excited as no matter who’s birthday it is, he knows there is going to be cards and presents. Isles of Scilly Weekend May 2023

I have lived in Devon all my life and both my husband and myself have always said the Isles of Scilly is somewhere that we wanted to visit. We have been to other parts of the World but have never got around to visiting these wonderful islands, until now. If you are unfamiliar with these islands, they are a small group of islands off the Cornish coast about 2 hour 45 minutes by the Scillonian passenger ferry (no cars), a 20 minute Skybus plane ride from Penzance or by helicopter from Penzance. I don’t like flying so the Scillonian ferry was our choice. The Scillonian is not very big and you do cross the Atlantic so if it is rough you will feel it. Mawgan Porth Holiday 2023 with Clumberdoodle Archie

Mawgan Porth Holiday 2023 with Clumberdoodle Archie. Another year and another week down at Archie’s favourite location, The Park at Mawgan Porth ( I have lost count how many times we have returned). We booked Lowenek which is our favourite accommodation amongst the many different types and sizes of accommodation that The Park has to offer. We return here as Archie loves the quick walk down to Mawgan Porth beach, the dog friendly accommodation is ideal, the onsite restaurant The Kitchen is very good either to eat in or they offer a takeaway service which is the same menu as if you ate there, to take back to your accommodation. Also it only takes about an hour and a half to get there.

There is also the Merrymoor Inn right down on the beach, again just a short walk away and then The Falcon Inn at St Mawgan which you can walk to from The Park.

As I said above, we have had enjoyed many previous holidays at The Park, so I will not repeat similar photos that have already appeared in previous blogs, so please take a look at these. Home Farm Cottages Somerset Holiday 2022

We decided to book another dog friendly holiday in September 2022 (when the kids are back at school) but somewhere different to The Park in Cornwall which we love. We found a nice dog friendly place in Somerset on the outskirts of a little village called Winscombe with the nearest big town being Weston Super Mare. So please read below my daily diary of events and photographs. It is quite long so a cup of tea or glass of wine might not go amiss.
