Clumberdoodle Archie’s 4th Birthday
Quite unbelievable but on 2nd April 2021 Archie turned 4, where has the time gone? Again like last year Archie celebrated it during the Covid pandemic. Some restrictions were lifted on the 29th March 2021 so we have been able to drive short distances in the car to take him for his daily walk and yesterday we went to a local beach. The only trouble with this was we saw him digging in the sand and began eating something, but by the time we got to him he had devoured whatever it was. However on his birthday he wasn’t very well and brought up some phlegm in the morning and again whilst out on his walk. We can only put this down to what he might have scavenged on the beach the day before. So his 4th birthday he was a bit of a poorly pup!!
Shown in the photo above is a sqeaky yellow plastic banana. Big mistake in buying this (although it was only £1) as the squeak lasted less than an hour and Archie managed to chew the end off. So it was binned almost as soon as he opened it. Definitely a doggy toy not Archie tested!!!”
Later on in the afternoon he was presented with his birthday cake, yes I know how sad but I bet there are lots of doggy owners who make birthday cakes for their beloved pooches (the recipe I use can be found on a previous post – Archie’s 3rd birthday.
Now although he had thrown up earlier , how could we present him with his cake and then not let him have any – big mistake. So I cut a small piece which he woofed down in seconds.
We crossed our fingers and toes and hoped he would keep it down. Unfortunately a few minutes later he was out in the garden throwing up and his just eaten piece of cake surfaced (sorry for the detailed info!!)
So I decided that even though it was his birthday it was probably best not to give him his dinner (he only has one meal a day) .
In the evening our Son popped over with another bag of birthday goodies, which again Archie enjoyed opening. Included in this was a soft toy rattle snake which is brilliant which you can see in the video below and also Archie’s favourite treats, a bag of Ostrich spaghetti. As you can tell he is one spoilt dog, but then again he is a much loved member of the family.
He still enjoyed opening his presents and he loves to unwrap them spitting out the paper, he really has a great technique.

Then so to bed with one very empty, rumbly tumbly. So all in all not a very happy birthday which included being starved. However he did enjoy opening and playing with his presents.
So his next meal will be tomorrow night, which hopefully whatever he had eaten would have gone through his system and he will be back to normal. Also he can finish off his birthday cake.
