Donkey Quiz Night For Humans
The annual quiz night was held at the DAT Ivybridge Donkey Centre on Saturday 9th February 2013 and needless to say Steve, myself and two friends (close neighbours of ours) decided to partake. We do usually attend the quiz but on the very first one our table actually came second, which was an absolute miracle, and I can only put it down to our friends that made up the team (well they are very clever!!!). We have taken part in the years afterwards, but could not come close or better our position of the first year. As the said friends had now moved over the boarder into Cornwall, they came up for the weekend and were keen to take part in the quiz again. It was extremely well attended, which it is every year, and included are what I call professional quizzers who seem to travel around the area taking part in every quiz they can. Absolutely nothing wrong in that but that puts the once a year quizzers are then at a distinct disadvantage.
There were 4 rounds of general knowledge and one picture round, and the 3 top winning teams after each round had the now familiar donkey heads placed at their table, which I confirm we did not have the pleasure of having them sit with us at any time.
We did enjoy it, and can hold our heads halfway up I suppose, as we ended up about 10 (well might have been a few more) points off the winners, so to ever beat our second place again, is never going to be repeated, and we actually had high hoped of going one better.
It was a good evening but when we got home we drowned our sorrows and reflected on our poor performances with a few glasses of wine, which helped ease the pain!!! We will definitely have to swot up before taking part again next year!!!

A little bit of very sad donkey news
One of our very sweet little donkeys – Merlin, had to be put down at the end of the week, which was very very sad. He had been very poorly for a little while and it was decided that the kindest thing to do was to put him out of his misery. It was a very sad day and dear little Merlin will be very much missed by not only the humans but his donkey friends aswell.
