Puppy Class Attended for The Hearing Dogs For Deaf People

Puppy Class Attended for The Hearing Dogs For Deaf People

A new Trainer has recently been appointed to take over the Plymouth Area of puppy socialisers for the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People Charity  to which I am a volunteer, and although we have communicated by email, it was suggested that it would be nice to meet up and an ideal place to do this would be at one of the puppy training classes.  It would also give me a chance to meet the puppies in the area, that I might be called upon to board for short periods of time  or longer holiday cover for their socialisers.

So on the 25th April 2012 I went out to the training class, and met up with the Trainer.  They hold two classes and in the first class who should  be there but Jamie (the black labrador) I boarded for a weekend back in January 2012 when he was only 12 weeks old.  He had certainly grown and it was lovely to see how he had progressed through the socialising programme.  I sat and watched the other pups being put through their paces, which all did extremely well.

The second class had the tiny puppies all around  8 – 9 weeks and it was the first time that they had been to the training class.  One little spaniel puppy arrived in its socialisers arms and was shaking from head to foot.  This was obviously a strange environment with other puppies that he had not met before and clearly he was finding it all a bit much.  However, it wasn’t long before he was running around, saying hello to all the other pups and ended up having a lovely time.   Amongst these little puppies was a lovely golden labrador, who even at this young age was being referred to as a “Diva”.  She really was full of it and was full of character.

I watched with interest as these cute tiny little puppies had the first taste of training, and it was really quite amazing at what they were doing.  Clearly their volunteer socialisers all knew how to train and they all did a brilliant job introducing these puppies for the first time into this different environment.

Will now wait for the call to ask if I would be willing to look after one of these pups for a short while in the future.  Wonder which one it will be?
