Selling On Ebay How It All Started
About 9 years ago I discovered eBay and started using it to buy and sell to enhance my own collection of antiques and was spending just a couple of hours at the weekends on it. It was really exciting waiting to see if you had won an item that you had bid on in an auction, and also just as exciting to watch people bidding on my items that I had put up for sale.
I soon became impressed with the volume and scope of items for sale. After a number of successful transactions I realised that I enjoyed trading on eBay more than my full time job and after much soul searching I decided to make it my full time occupation as I could see it was a way of making money that I enjoyed.
I then decided to focus purely on my passion for Silver and the seeds for Silver2Treasure were sown. In 2005 I created an eBay shop and became a business seller and over the coming years sales grew and I was upgraded to a Powerseller and today I am now a Top Rated Silver Powerseller.
To keep ebay sales turning over, requires a lot of time and effort and I am sure that people do not realise how time consuming and how much effort goes in to the process of putting silver items up for sale. Also I like to offer my customers the best possible good (old fashioned) personal customer service, which appears to be lacking in the retail world these days. This does take a lot time and effort, but I do take pride in offering this personal service and I wouldn’t have it any other way. As I do not employ any staff it is me who personally deals with all my customers transactions, which includes answering queries before they commit to buy, any special requirements, keeping them informed of when the item is posted, and making sure that they are pleased with their purchases once they receive them. If they have any problem whatsoever, then I will always try to solve it to the customers satisfaction.
I now have over 3000 positive feedbacks and have many repeat and regular customers. I try to keep about 350 items listed in my shop for sale at any one time, with a large range of items from a spoon to a Tea Set so hopefully there is something for everyone.
The process of actually getting an item on ebay in readiness for sale is quite a long process (well it is with silver items) as each item is completely different and there is a lot of hard work that goes into preparing an item before it actually shows up on Ebay. As Steve and I both now work in the business, we have clearly defined jobs, and he starts the process off and then he hands over to me to complete the selling and sales side. We do have a white line between us, and never on any occasion do we cross it!!!
