Duke’s Bath House Beaulieu
Our 2nd holiday of 2024 and we are off to Hampshire staying in what looks like a beautiful dog friendly historic cottage called the Duke’s Bath House, which sits on the banks of the Beaulieu River. Below is the historic information that is on a notice board on the public path outside the actual cottage so anyone passing can read.
Isles of Scilly Weekend May 2023
I have lived in Devon all my life and both my husband and myself have always said the Isles of Scilly is somewhere that we wanted to visit. We have been to other parts of the World but have never got around to visiting these wonderful islands, until now. If you are unfamiliar with these islands, they are a small group of islands off the Cornish coast about 2 hour 45 minutes by the Scillonian passenger ferry (no cars), a 20 minute Skybus plane ride from Penzance or by helicopter from Penzance. I don’t like flying so the Scillonian ferry was our choice. The Scillonian is not very big and you do cross the Atlantic so if it is rough you will feel it. Mawgan Porth Holiday 2023 with Clumberdoodle Archie. Another year and another week down at Archie’s favourite location, The Park at Mawgan Porth ( I have lost count how many times we have returned). We booked Lowenek which is our favourite accommodation amongst the many different types and sizes of accommodation that The Park has to offer. We return here as Archie loves the quick walk down to Mawgan Porth beach, the dog friendly accommodation is ideal, the onsite restaurant The Kitchen is very good either to eat in or they offer a takeaway service which is the same menu as if you ate there, to take back to your accommodation. Also it only takes about an hour and a half to get there.
There is also the Merrymoor Inn right down on the beach, again just a short walk away and then The Falcon Inn at St Mawgan which you can walk to from The Park.
As I said above, we have had enjoyed many previous holidays at The Park, so I will not repeat similar photos that have already appeared in previous blogs, so please take a look at these. Home Farm Cottages Somerset Holiday 2022
We decided to book another dog friendly holiday in September 2022 (when the kids are back at school) but somewhere different to The Park in Cornwall which we love. We found a nice dog friendly place in Somerset on the outskirts of a little village called Winscombe with the nearest big town being Weston Super Mare. So please read below my daily diary of events and photographs. It is quite long so a cup of tea or glass of wine might not go amiss.
The Park Mawgan Porth with Clumberdoodle Archie 2021
Friday 7th May 2021
This was the start of our 2nd week’s holiday, the first being in Dorset (read about that here Steamer Point Lodge with Clumberdoodle Archie 2021).
We had breakfast and finished the packing and loaded the car and said farewell to Steamer Point Lodge. We had thoroughly enjoyed our week there (even though the weather could have been better) in this amazing location and will certainly miss the peace and quiet with just the bird song and the waves breaking on the shore. Archie will definitely miss the miles and miles of beach walks.
