As you can read in other blogs on my site I walk my neighbour’s dog Henry twice a week for a good few years now (with other odd days where I look after him). Henry is a dear old Golden Retriever and is a real gentleman of the doggy world, who loves his walks – especially when it is warm and sunny. Although he is nearly 12 years old, he was fit and healthy and could go on lengthy walks. However in late 2013 when he was 10 his owners bought him a new flea collar and suddenly his health deteriorated. [Read more…] about Flea Collar A Warning To Pet Owners

Henlake Down Fire
If you have read previous blogs, you will see that I walk a neighbour’s dog Henry twice a week. Our favourite place for walking is up on Henlake Down which is just behind our house in Ivybridge, Devon. It is a beautiful and peaceful place, abundant with birds, small wildlife and even deer, which I have had the pleasure and excitement of seeing on a couple of occasions. I access it by a steep farm track but once up on the open moor it is a lovely place to be and the panoramic views are spectacular, and on a clear day you can even see the sea. We have been walking up there for years, but in the last couple of weeks the landscape has changed beyond all recognition. [Read more…] about Henlake Down Fire

Henry’s owners had some relatives down for the weekend of the 20th April 2012 and part of their family is an elderly black labrador called Brook. As they were going to be away for most of the day on Saturday, where it wouldn’t have been much fun for the dogs, they asked asked if I would walk Henry and Brook a couple of times during the day and also to feed them both at around 3.00 p.m. As I had nothing planned, I was happy to help out. Colin (Henry’s owner) passed the key through the door early on Saturday morning with a little note to say let the dogs back in the kitchen when we got back from the walks. No problems then!! A Rabbit Hole Takes The Biscuit – Henry’s
As I have stated previously, I walk our neighbours dog Henry, a Golden Retriever, twice a week on a Tuesday and Thursday. Now Henry is a real gentleman of the doggy world and is extremely well behaved- obeys every command (well nearly), and a walk with him is a very relaxing and sedate affair. Over the 12 months that I have been walking him, I have never had anything to write about, but this morning 1st March 2012, we had rather a funny incident. [Read more…] about

Dog Reference For Daisy
Dog Reference For Daisy
Daisy’s owners holiday in France every year, and last year when they went away, and Daisy had not yet got her pet passport as she was a fairly new addition to their family, I offered to look after her for the two weeks whilst they were away, so we got to know her quite well. She now has her pet passport and her owners want to take her with them this year. They stay in a Gite and are friendly with the owner, who does allow pets to stay but only if they are well behaved. As Daisy’s owners wanted to confirm that she was okay I was asked if I would write a doggy reference. Well, I don’t think I have ever heard of anyone writing a doggy reference, but I naturally agreed. Having said I would, what do you actually write? [Read more…] about Dog Reference For Daisy
