If you have read previous blogs, you will see that I walk a neighbour’s dog Henry twice a week. Our favourite place for walking is up on Henlake Down which is just behind our house in Ivybridge, Devon. It is a beautiful and peaceful place, abundant with birds, small wildlife and even deer, which I have had the pleasure and excitement of seeing on a couple of occasions. I access it by a steep farm track but once up on the open moor it is a lovely place to be and the panoramic views are spectacular, and on a clear day you can even see the sea. We have been walking up there for years, but in the last couple of weeks the landscape has changed beyond all recognition. [Read more…] about Henlake Down Fire

Harvey The Advert Dog Falls in Love
I have loved all the adverts featuring Harvey the dog and these adverts are better than most televisions programmes. Harvey and his rabbit was brilliant but I have to say the latest one with Harvey falling in love with Harmony the Poodle is definitely the best. It shows Harvey trying to persuade his owners to let Harmony a white standard poodle move in after Harvey fell for her when he went speed dating. Hearing Dog Puppy Mabel The Golden Labrador Comes To Stay

Well after the previous hearing dog we had to stay who was very calm and quiet, Mabel the whirlwind arrived on 3rd September. She was a large 5 month old golden Labrador who certainly made her presence known as soon as she bounded in the front door. Like all the puppies she came complete with crate, toys, food etc etc and took over our house immediately. She was very very excited and was only here for about 10- minutes when she decided to christen the carpet, fall through the mesh of our small fish pond and race around the garden as fast as she could. She continued her crazy manic behaviour for a good few hours, just stopping for her tea, and didn’t really quieten down until she went to bed. After protesting for a few minutes she eventually went quiet and we didn’t hear a peep from her until 8.00 a.m the following morning – not surprising really, she must have been exhausted. Hearing Dog Puppy George Comes to Stay

I am a volunteer boarder for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People Charity, which means when their puppy socialiser goes away, the puppies are boarded out with people like me rather than board them out in kennels. So on the 27th May 2014, little George a 5 month old golden Labrador came to stay with me for 2 weeks.
My Double D Weekend – Donkeys and Dogs

My Double D Weekend – Donkeys and Dogs
It was a busy weekend for donkeys and dogs, firstly the donkeys.
Our local garden centre, Endsleigh at Ivybridge had a pet weekend on the 18th and 19th May 2013. All things pet related were on offer, inlcuding free photo sessions with your pet. The DAT Donkey Centre at Ivybridge where I am a volunteer, were invited to have a donkey stand to promote the charity, and I offered to help out on the day. We took our two newest and youngest donkeys, 3 and 4 year old Paddy and Chocolate which was their first trip out together from the centre, so it was a very new experience for them. We set up our stand outside next to the hens and ducks enclosures, and Paddy and Chocolate started munching on their hay and straw and appeared quite happy in their new environment.
