Taking our Silver To An Antiques Fair

Taking our Silver To An Antiques Fair
Our Table Laid Out

In addition to selling from our Silver2treasure eBay Shop  and our antique silver website, Steve and I have decided that we might like to start selling at antiques fairs again.  We did actually sell at fairs many years ago, when we had just started the business, and were in the process of building up our stock.  To be honest it was hard work, sorting the items out, labelling them all up with the price and information,  packing them up, unpacking them and displaying on the tables and then at the end of a long day packing them all back up again.  And during the day panicked if anything sold at the fair, hoping that it would not also sell on ebay before we got home in time to take it off.

Now our stock has increased to such a level that we can now take stock items which are not listed on ebay and just keep them completely separate, which makes it so much easier.  So on the 22nd April we decided to a fair at St Mellion Golf & Country Club just over the Tamar Bridge into Cornwall, and only about a 20 minute drive from home.

We arrived at the venue and were shown to our tables, which were in hall 3 and in a lovely position around the edge of the room.  I have to say that ferrying the stock from the car park to the tables and then unpacking them all is a great form of exercise, so I don’t feel guilty when we munch through the food that I take to keep us going.

We had many people admiring our  silverware, but I have to be honest and say that we didn’t sell as much as we had hoped.  The present recession is certainly hitting people hard, and luxuries like silver are being put on the back burner.  However, it was nice to meet people face to face and we really quite enjoyed it.  So much so, that we have booked other local fairs  throughout the rest of the year, including Matford and Westpoint,  both at Exeter and another fair down at St Mellion in November, so if anyone reading this would like to see our silver in the flesh then please come and visit us.

My husband Steve is really into green energy, solar power and electric vehicles. The benefit to me is the reduced household energy bills as a result of his obsession. One thing I know he is pleased with in particular is Octopus Energy. As well as great customer service and some really good tariffs they also have a referral scheme where new customers get £50 when switching from their existing energy supplier. Its free to get a quote to see if you can save money too. Just click the link below.
