Ivybridge Donkey Sanctuary 10 Year Celebration Function 2017Ivybridge Donkey Sanctuary 10 Year Celebration Function 2017

The Ivybridge Donkey Sanctuary was opened in 2007, so this year 2017, we decided to commemorate 10 years with a big celebration.  A Committee was formed, of which I was one, and planning started for the big event way back in 2016.  First of all the Committee had to decide what sort of celebration it was going to be and we all agreed that it would be a nice meal, with live entertainment and we were hoping for a good turnout of current staff and volunteers and also previous staff, volunteers and anyone who had been involved with the centre during the 10 years.

The next step was the venue and each of the committee members had to research one for us to make a final shortlist of 3.  This was quite difficult because at this time we had no idea how many people would attend, we were hoping for about 60 – 80 but didn’t really have a clue.  We whittled them all down and when we got to the final 3 visited each one, but it was an easy decision as once we had visited Boringdon Park Golf Club at Plympton we knew that this was the place. Final numbers didn’t matter at this stage, as they had movable walls to make the very large room accommodate however many guests there would be, which was absolutely brilliant.  The staff were also most accommodating and nothing was too much trouble and a good deal was done!!!

The next job do to was to sort out the menu with good choices to suit every taste.  This was quite difficult as the 10 members of the committee had difficulty in agreeing what the final choices should be, but a decision was finally made. Clumberdoodle Archie And His 6th Week Onwards

Clumberdoodle Archie And His 6th Week OnwardsAs stated in my previous post, pupdates will be a lot less, as there will be fewer “Firsts” so I will only pupdate when anything interesting happens.

Pupdate 19th July 2017

Well things were going quite well until last night. Archie had been sleeping quite happily in his crate down in the kitchen for weeks but it all changed tonight. He begrudgingly went in to the crate, we closed the door started to walk up the stairs and he became very vocal. We thought he would calm down after a while, but no he went on and barking and crying for ages. He was really distressed, a bit like his first night with us. Clumberdoodle Archie And His 5th Week

Clumberdoodle Archie And His 5th WeekIt is hard to believe (as it seems a whole lot longer) but little Archie has now just started his 5th week with us.

Pupdate 9th July 2017

Although he is very good on the lead, I thought it was kinder for him to now have a little harness instead of his lead being attached to his collar, so it was a trip down to Jollyes, where they have a small branch in our local Wyevale Garden Centre here at Ivybridge. Clumberdoodle Archie And His 4th WeekAnother week has gone by, and now it has been 7 days since Archie’s final injections, so he can finally go out and explore the World.  This  is going to be quite an exciting week for him as he will be meeting some donkeys at the Ivybridge Donkey Sanctuary where I am a volunteer.  Friday will also be a very interesting day as Archie will be re-united with one of his litter brothers. My husband Steve is really into green energy, solar power and electric vehicles. The benefit to me is the reduced household energy bills as a result of his obsession. One thing I know he is pleased with in particular is Octopus Energy. As well as great customer service and some really good tariffs they also have a referral scheme where new customers get £50 when switching from their existing energy supplier. Its free to get a quote to see if you can save money too. Just click the link below.
