Fiat 500e Meet Fabio .The 6th September 2021 was the day I was collecting my new Fiat 500e which I have named Fabio (Fiat All Battery Irresistible One – clever???). It is the La Prima Model in Celestial Blue which is a tri paint and actually looks different colours in different lights. It can look white or blue and there are the pinky hues so it really is very pretty. It was a hard choice to pick the right colour and you can read how I made my decision here – Fiat 500e Going All Electric . Fabio also has the added extra of an electric sliding glass sunroof (not a convertible).
A few days before collection I had notification from Fiat regarding the app set up in readiness for collection on the 6th September. Once the app was set up and the garage was preparing Fabio I had notification that it had been charged and here is a screenshot showing it was fully charged with 203 miles on it (according to the manufacturers advertising and the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure) the maximum range is supposed to be 199 miles. Although as with all electric vehicles that is reduced in normal driving conditions and the Fiat 500e’s should average around 160 on a single charge.
My husband Steve, says that I have electrickery as I have a knack of being able to disrupt anything to do with technology. So have I been able to let Fabio have the longest range of any other Fiat 500e ??????. Steve gets amazed at what I can do – unintentionally and I can apparently do things on a computer that he has never seen before and which should be impossible. Anyway I digress, back to Fabio.
6th September 2021 the collection day
This day had finally arrived and excitement ensured as at 2.30 p.m. was the time to collect Fabio. In the morning I received an email from Jennifer (the Fiat Sales Manager Vospers Plymouth) with a video of Fabio with a sneaky peek as to what he looked like before I saw him in the flesh which was a lovely bit of personal customer service. I also have to add that with all the dealings we have had with Car Salesmen/women over the years (and there have been many) she was superb. Very thorough, very helpful, nothing was too much trouble and also very knowledgeable and personable and not at all pushy and it was a smooth transaction from beginning to end. I cannot praise her enough.
It was a beautiful (well no a bit too hot ) sunny day, which hopefully was a good omen. It was also a sad day as I was saying goodbye to to my current Fiat 500 Twinair (Whizy) and I will be sorry to see him go. So a last photo of him was taken on our drive before I drove him for the last time to the garage for the handover.
As we approached the garage Steve spotted Fabio parked outside the showroom entrance. I parked and locked Whizy up for the last time and said arrivederci.
It was then I walked up to Fabio and said ciao as I saw him in the flesh and with the sun beating down on him the Celestial blue tri colour paint showed off the different colours. He really did look lovely. Steve took a photo where you can see me saying goodbye to Whizy and he also got Fabio in the distance aswell. .
Some more photos of Fabio waiting to go!!
We then entered the showroom to do all the paperwork and then it was time to drive him home.
We arrived home safe and sound after a lovely first drive and settled Fabio into his new home.
This is a photo of the driving display after Fabio’s very first journey home and shows the charge at 90% and having done his first 19 miles.
7th September – 1st day out
It was such a lovely day and we decided to take Fabio out for a proper drive and took him to Burrator Reservoir a round trip of around 40 miles, so it was a good test. Also it was the first time that our Clumberdoodle Archie had a ride in him and the walks around Burrator are one of his favourties. Although Archie is used to a Fiat 500 it was still something new.

Hi David.
Thanks for your kind comment. Steve has always wanted me to switch to an electric car, but the only make I would even consider was the Fiat 500e but had to wait until they were launched in the Spring of 2021. I absolutely love it (and so does Steve). All the electric car owners have had wry smiles on our faces when passing queues at petrol stations!! All fossil fuel drivers mocking the ranges of electric vehicles, well at least we are still able to travel and fill up with not a queue in sight!!
Regards
Karen
