Weekend in Roscoff France June 2015
Hotel Le Brittany

As we had not booked up for a proper holiday for 2015, we decided to have a weekend away in Roscoff.  So on Thursday 18th April we travelled 12 miles down the road to board the Pont Aven – the Brittany Ferries flagship that left from Plymouth at 8.45 p.m. on the overnight crossing to Roscoff.

On this particular crossing there is provision for early boarding at 7.00 p.m which enables you to have a meal in the lovely elegant A  la carte restaurant, Le Flora which is situated at the rear of the ferry, and is a really good way to start your holiday, and we have eaten in here on a few occasions and thoroughly enjoyed it. Donkey Assisted Therapy Visits London
The 4 donkeys, Boyo, Pharaoh, Austin and Tiny Tim

The World famous Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary has DAT (Donkey Assisted Therapy) Centres throughout the UK and Ireland where these centres offer riding therapy to special needs and disabled children , and also offer mobile riding therapy where the donkeys and staff travel to schools. Specially trained donkeys also visit Care Homes so the elderly do not miss out on seeing these special animals. I  am a volunteer at the DAT Ivybridge Branch and one of our donkeys (Boyo) from Ivybridge and three from Sidmouth have been staying temporarily in lovely surroundings where they are being used as a pilot scheme offering inner city London schoolchildren a chance to meet and ride them.  If this pilot scheme is successful it could develop into a more permanent arrangement. Henry on his 11th Birthday in 2014
Henry on his 11th Birthday in 2014

As you can read in other blogs on my site I walk my neighbour’s dog Henry twice a week for a good few years now  (with other odd days where I look after him).  Henry is a dear old Golden Retriever and is a real gentleman of the doggy world, who loves his walks – especially when it is warm and sunny.  Although he is nearly 12 years old, he was fit and healthy and could go on lengthy walks.  However in late 2013 when he was 10 his owners bought him a new flea collar and suddenly  his health deteriorated.  [Read more…] about Flea Collar A Warning To Pet Owners

My husband Steve is really into green energy, solar power and electric vehicles. The benefit to me is the reduced household energy bills as a result of his obsession. One thing I know he is pleased with in particular is Octopus Energy. As well as great customer service and some really good tariffs they also have a referral scheme where new customers get £50 when switching from their existing energy supplier. Its free to get a quote to see if you can save money too. Just click the link below.
