Clumberdoodle Archie’s 7th Birthday Born 2nd April 2017 Sleepy Hollow Breeder Devon
I have been a bit lackadaisical (that’s a good word!!) in updating Archie’s blog, so as he celebrated his 7th Birthday on the 2nd April 2024, I thought it was about time I put that right.
Now Archie knows the song “Happy Birthday” and gets very excited as no matter who’s birthday it is, he knows there is going to be cards and presents. So when we woke up on his day and we sang “Happy Birthday” (I know sad!!) to him he started looking for pressies and couldn’t wait to get downstairs.
He patiently waited for the carrier bag containing his presents to be brought in to the living room and then his head was in the bag to see what was inside.

Now he loves to open presents and has a brilliant knack of biting off bits of paper and then spitting them out all over the floor.
I think the actual opening of the presents is more fun than the actual presents as once opened he loses interest.
Once all opened it was then time for a little sleep after all the excitement (we refer to Archie as a Slumberdoodle rather than a Clumberdoodle as he does like to sleep!!!)
Then as the weather forecast was not very good for the afternoon, we decided to take him out for a local walk in the morning. So we walked up the very muddy farm track close to our house and up to Henlake Down and then down to Longtimber Woods and then into Ivybridge for a cup of coffee and a cake (that was for us not for Archie, although he did have a tiny bit of cake).
Then at about 3.00 p.m it was time for his doggy birthday cake (you can see the recipe if you look at his 5th birthday blog).
He is very good and waits patiently until we give him the green light to “go”.
Then in the evening our Son, Adrian came over after work to give Archie the birthday presents he had bought him. So more wrapping paper all over the floor and more toys. Also Adrian decided to buy Archie a larger storage box as his current one is getting too small to hold all his toys., but Archie had great fun opening it.
We were going to donate some old toys to our local cats and dogs home but now as we have a larger box and more toys it looks like we will have to keep them for a bit longer!!.
I bet you are thinking what a spoilt dog, well yes but we love him to bits!!!!
Do you think we could teach him to put his toys away all the time?
So he will have to wait another year for his next birthday although “Happy Birthday” will be sung throughout the year for the humans’ birthdays, so no doubt we will get help opening our presents!!!!
So Archie would like to wish his 7 other siblings who were born to Martha from Sleepy Hollow in Bere Alston (Devon), breeder Kelly, on the 2nd April 2017 a very happy 7th birthday. So if you are an owner of one his brothers or sisters, I would love to hear from you.
Below is a photo of all the litter that I took when we went to see Archie at Sleepy Hollow. Can you make out which one is yours?
PAWNOTE
Just before Archie’s birthday quite unexpectedly we had snow late in the evening on the 27th March 2024. We didn’t even realise it was snowing as it started about 9.00 p.m so all the curtains were drawn. Adrian actually phoned us as he had seen it so we were most surprised to see it. It came down really quickly with huge great snowflakes and a couple of inches laid in just over an hour. Now Archie loves the snow, so when he went out to do his last wee before bed, he refused to come in to bed as he was enjoying himself going loopy around the garden and playing in the white stuff. The next morning however it had disappeared as quickly as it came, it really was quite weird.

Hi there, Archie looks like he’s living his best life! I recently lost my beloved Clumber spaniel and have thought about a Clumberdoodle being our next fur baby. Would you be so kind as to let me know the breeders details of where you got Archie from or if you know of any others we may try please? Thank you! Ness x
Hi Ness. Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately Archie saddly passed away very suddenly and completely out of the blue just 6 months after his 7th birthday (the post you related to). We are naturally devastated as he has left a huge hole in our lives as he was our World. I did write posts all about Archie from the first time we saw him with his Mum and siblings right up to the day he passed away if you are interested. We got Archie from a local breeder down here in Devon called Sleepy Hollow but it appears from her website that she has moved so I do not know where and if she still breeds Clumberdoodles. This mix is quite rare so I am afraid that I do not know of any other breeders, it was just by luck that we found Sleepy Hollow. Good luck with your search and although I can only relate to Archie, he was a fantastic dog, full of character and a pleasure to own.
