Hearing Dogs for Deaf People – Jamie Came to Stay

Well it has been a bit quiet on the dog front lately, apart from Henry (my neighbours dog) of course, who I have the pleasure of walking twice a week, but on Friday 20th January 2012, little Jamie arrived He was a 15 week old black Labrador puppy. I was asked if I would have him for the weekend for the Hearing Dogs For Deaf People, to which I am a volunteer. Jamie’s socialisers were going away for the weekend and needed someone to look after him. Little Jamie arrived early Friday evening complete with his food, cage, blankets, toys, bones, plastic milk bottle (which is a great help for him to chew on, with his very very sharp milk teeth). This is a great video showing two dogs sat around a table, laid up with knives and forks and serviettes ready for a true dining experience. How Not To Tease Your Dog
Here is a great little video where you see a dog owner tease his dog over food. The dog is absolutely gorgeous and I think is a German Shepherd cross. The voice over has been brilliantly done. In the beginning the owner talks about food in general to the dog. He talks about the contents of his fridge building tension in the dog especially when he mentions maple flavoured bacon, which the dog obviously adores. Bingley Arrives – my Latest Lodger

Good friends of mine have a 10 year old Rough Collie (like “Lassie”) called Bingley and previously if they went on holiday without him he went to stay in a local kennels. Unfortunately the last time that Bingley stayed in these kennels, my friends were not happy with his care. I won’t go into detail, but they have decided that they will not put Bingley there again. That has now left them in a bit of a quandary, as now Bingley is getting on a bit they do not want to put him any other kennels. Deer in the Ferns, Spotted One at Last

1st December 2011. Have just come back from my twice weekly walk with Henry up on Henlake Down, which is just behind our house and a lovely experience. After walking up on this Down for over two years, I was lucky enough to come extremely close to a deer. I have been told they are up there, but I have never seen one, but today was my lucky day. Henry and I were just meandering through the heavily overgrown ferns (although they are now brown and dying back) on a little path, when I thought I saw a dog up in front of us.
