Bingley Arrives – my Latest Lodger

Good friends of mine have a 10 year old Rough Collie  (like “Lassie”) called Bingley and previously if they went on holiday without him he went to stay in a local  kennels.   Unfortunately the last time that Bingley stayed in these kennels, my friends were not happy with his care.  I won’t go into detail, but they have decided that they will not put Bingley there again.  That has now left them in a bit of a quandary, as now Bingley is getting on a bit they do not want to put him any other kennels.  They had arranged to go away for the weekend of the 2nd December so I offered my services.

So Bingley arrived at about 9.00 a.m. on the Friday morning with all his doggy things and after being extremely vocal eventually calmed down.   I took him out for his first walk with me up on our little bit of Dartmoor just behind our house, and although he is an old gentleman now, seemed to enjoy it.  He did however come back extremely muddy, as to get up to the moor we have to walk up a farm lane, which at this time of year gets extremely muddy.  Lucky he doesn’t mind the hosepipe and it wasn’t long before his muddy paws were clean again.

Well it is Monday afternoon, and Bingley is about to be collected from his owners.  We have had a good few days, and hopefully Bingley has enjoyed his stay.  Aswell as taking him up on the moors behind our house on two days,  it was so muddy the second day that he got absolutely filthy, and not only the hosepipe, loads of towels, even had to use the hairdryer (which he didn’t mind) before he was allowed to come into the house – on our cream carpet.

So on Sunday had to had to go an alternative route down through the local woods which runs beside the River Erme.  I thought that he would not come home quite so muddy, but although not quite so bad, he was still in a state.  Unlike  further up the Country, we have had an awful lot of rain down here in Devon over the last few weeks so it is very difficult to find anywhere clean to walk.

So goodbye Bingley, and back to Henry tomorrow.

My husband Steve is really into green energy, solar power and electric vehicles. The benefit to me is the reduced household energy bills as a result of his obsession. One thing I know he is pleased with in particular is Octopus Energy. As well as great customer service and some really good tariffs they also have a referral scheme where new customers get £50 when switching from their existing energy supplier. Its free to get a quote to see if you can save money too. Just click the link below.
