Daisy The Labradoodle Returns for the Weekend

Daisy’s owners were going away for the weekend, and asked if I would have Daisy for the few days.  Naturally I offered my services and Daisy a labradoodle arrived on Friday 3rd February 2012.  She bounded in, and quite clearly appeared to be excited at being back with us again. Daisy didn’t seem worried at all when her owners left, and went straight in to the garden looking for a tennis ball to play chase with.

It was a beautiful day, so after lunch Steve and I both took her for a walk.  Although cold, the sun was out and it was quite warm and we had a lovely walk up on the moors behind our house.  It was lovely in the warm sunshine, and it was such a clear day, that we could see the sea from here.  Daisy enjoyed it and  and my right arm had lots of exercise using the ball thrower for  Daisy to chase her beloved tennis balls.  She just goes on and on, and never gets tired, and as long as you throw the ball, she will chase it.  Quite a few times, the ball disappeared in the gorse, but Daisy finds it every time, and will not give up until she does. Pancho the Singing Donkey

I helped at a birthday party down at the EST centre in Ivybridge on the 25th January 2012.  The centre is available for birthday parties for children with special needs where the staff and donkeys are provided for riding and the family provides the food for the children.  This is a very popular service that we offer and many children have had a great party.

One of the donkeys used for this party was Pancho, and although I shouldn’t have favourites he is definitely one of them.  He a large donkey but I have to say I didn’t realise he had a talent until standing in the arena with him during this particular party.  He was standing for a few moments and suddenly started to bray, except it was nothing like a normal donkey bray, but it sounded as if he was singing as it was in a very high pitched melodic sound. EBay Bonehead Or Bone Handled?

Ebay Bonehead Or Bone Handled?

Ebay have riled me again.  I had an email from them to say that one of my items had been removed from my eBay antique silver store as it had breached their Animals, Plants and Wildlife policy.  It was a boxed pair of Silver  1913 Fish Servers with Bone Handles.  Now I know that you are not allowed to sell items made of ivory on eBay but before I listed this item I did check that other items with bone handles were allowed.   There were items listed at the time so I listed this lovely set.

I was quite surprised to find that it had been removed and again on checking, there were items listed with bone handles so I was quite annoyed and wanted to find out exactly why my item had been removed.  Well if anyone has actually used ebay’s customer support, it is like hitting your head against a brick wall to actually get answers to your questions.  As emailing them now takes about 3 days before you receive a reply, I wanted to get on the case quickly so decided to enter the ebay customer support chat room. Hearing Dogs for Deaf People – Jamie Came to Stay

Well it has been a bit quiet on the dog front lately, apart from Henry (my neighbours dog) of course, who I have the pleasure of walking twice a week, but on Friday 20th January 2012, little Jamie arrived  He was a 15 week old black Labrador puppy.  I was asked if I would have him for the weekend for the Hearing Dogs For Deaf People,  to which I am a volunteer.  Jamie’s socialisers were going away for the weekend and needed someone to look after him.  Little Jamie arrived early Friday evening complete with his food, cage, blankets, toys, bones, plastic milk bottle (which is a great help for him to chew on, with his very very sharp milk teeth).   [Read more…] about Hearing Dogs for Deaf People – Jamie Came to Stay

My husband Steve is really into green energy, solar power and electric vehicles. The benefit to me is the reduced household energy bills as a result of his obsession. One thing I know he is pleased with in particular is Octopus Energy. As well as great customer service and some really good tariffs they also have a referral scheme where new customers get £50 when switching from their existing energy supplier. Its free to get a quote to see if you can save money too. Just click the link below.
